Applying social action and justice requires two important dispositions: empathy (the capacity to stand in the shoes of another) and solidarity (the capacity to walk with another). Catholic schools work to build these dispositions in students through programs for service learning, social justice programs and outreach experiences. At St Mary MacKillop Catholic Primary School we follow the example of Jesus and aim to live out the good news that Jesus proclaimed. We live this in our daily lives through the explicit teaching of Catholic Social Teaching. We believe that learning needs to be relevant and allow an action focus, so opportunities to make connections in planning is promoted. As a school community we live out these messages in practical ways supporting:
Caritas Lenten Appeal
Mission Day - (Major School Fundraiser for the year)
